Abstract [en]

Racism has come in a new form. From having been a long-term race-hierarchy, racism has taken a new form by the cultural racism and cultural hierarchies, where human value has gone from how you look and your ethnic origin, to what culture you come from. The big and important question I intend to answer with my research is where Sweden's three largest parties The Social Democrats, the Moderates and the Swedish Democrats really stand when it comes to cultural racism? Are they as democratic and anti-racist as they advocate? My question to answer is: Are there cultural racism in the political programs of Sweden's three largest parties and how does it express itself in such cases? Theories that I have used for this purpose are the postcolonial theory to compare with Edward Said's concepts "We and them" and Stefan Jonsson's theory of cultural racism. With the help of the theories, I have made an analytical framework with three questions: How do the parties express themselves when they talk about immigration? How does the parties express themselves about Swedishness and Swedish citizenship? How do the parties express themselves about other cultures? To assess whether there is any cultural racism or not, I have used the indicators: Negativism to Integration, Inherited Essence, We and Them, Immigrants as a social problem, Nationalism, Homogeneous and Exclusive Society, Assimilation, Opponents of Cultural Relativism and Opponents of a Multicultural Society. To my analysis, I have chosen a qualitative content analysis as help to interpret and understand the text. The answer to the research question was that it was only in the Sweden Democrats' party program that cultural racism was made visible in the form of: their resistance to cultural relativism, their imaginary essence, antagonism to multiculturalism, their view of Swedishness and opinions on assimilation.
