Abstract [sv]

Idag är det många elever runt om i Sverige som inte tar sig till skolan och många anledningar till det finns. Denna studie har utförts i syftet att lyfta yrkesverksammas upplevelse kring problematiken frånvarande elever, oavsett om det handlar om skolkning eller hemmasittande. Studien påvisar de skillnader samt vissa likheter som finns kring orsaker, konsekvenser och åtgärder för dessa elever.

Studien utfördes genom kvalitativa intervjuer framförallt med hjälp av pedagoger som har kontakt med elever som faller offer för denna problematik. Informanterna tillhör skolans värld och omfattar låg-, mellan-, och högstadiet samt gymnasieskolan. Empiriinsamlingen tolkades med en narrativ metod och analyserades samt förankrades med hjälp av systemteori och tidigare forskning kring ämnet.

Resultatet visar att skolpersonalen och yrkes- och studievägledaren generellt ser väldigt lika på problematiken, de menar att elevernas relationer till lärare och kamrater samt resurserna på skolan kan vara en bidragande orsak till att unga idag drar sig från skolan.

Abstract [en]

In today's Sweden there is a lot of reasons why a great number of pupils are staying home from school. The main purpose of this paper is to highlight the problems with absent students from the workers point of view even if the reason is either truancy or school refusing. The study shows both the differences and similarities of the causes, consequences and actions against these students.

This was executed through qualitative interviews with educators who have contact with these kinds of students. The informants belong to the world of school and they cover both the elementary school and high school. Empirical data collection was interpreted with a narrative method and got analysed and anchored with the help of systems-theoretical perspective and past researches of this topic.

The results present that teachers and the study counsellor generally have the same view of the problematic of absent students. They refer to the pupil's relationship to friends, teachers and other resources at school and state that these can be a great cause to the student's absence.
