Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to describe how the Settlement Law (Anvisningslagen) is implemented on the local levels and if there are any differences in the implementation. The selected municipalities are Skövde and Uddevalla where the aim is to describe how the municipalities in our comparative study, differ when it comes to local immigrant settlement goals and policy, to give a description of how the municipalities implement the Settlement Law (Anvisningslagen). We will compare our findings to see if there are any differences in the implementation of the Settlement Law between the municipalities. This study is qualitative with a deductive approach, since we are applying concepts in our analytical framework containing three different settlement policy models on to the selected municipal control documents. The control documents contain local settlement goals and policies that we will use to describe the implementation of the Settlement Law. We have also conducted open-ended question interviews with two local Deputy Mayors in our selected municipalities regarding local immigrant settlement goals and policies, to triangulate our findings. Our primary findings are that the Settlement Law is implemented differently between the municipalities which depends on the different local immigrant settlement goals and policies.
