Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund Stress har blivit allt vanligare i Sverige under de senaste åren och fysisk aktivitet har stor påverkan på stress enligt forskning. Studien kommer inrikta sig på hur det ser ut hos högskolestudenter då högskolestudier innebär stor press i form av bl.a. ekonomi, skola, hälsa, och annat.

Syfte Syftet med studien är att studera studenters stress i relation till fysisk aktivitet.

Metod Studien har använt sig av en kvantitativ metod med deskriptiv och analytisk statistik. Data i studien har samlats in från enkäter från studenter.

Resultat Resultatet visade att de manliga studenterna var mer totalt fysiskt aktiva än de kvinnliga studenterna. Majoriteten av de manliga studenterna var fysiskt aktiva och dessa hade en signifikant lägre total stressnivå, samt lägre nivå av skolrelaterad stress och stress relaterat till annat. Resultatet för kvinnliga studenter visade ingen signifikant relation mellan stress och fysisk aktivitet.

Konklusion Manliga studenter utför mer ansträngande fysisk aktivitet och samtidigt rapporterar de en lägre stressnivå.

Abstract [en]

Background Stress has become more common in Sweden in recent years, and physical activity has a great impact on stress in research. The study will focus on college students as college studies mean big pressures in the form of inter alia, economics, school, health, and other.

Aim The aim of the study is to study students stress in relation to physical activity.

Method The study has used a quantitative method of descriptive and analytical statistics. Data has been collected from student surveys.

Results The results showed that male students were more physically active than the female students. The majority of male students were physically active and these had a significantly lower overall stress level, as well as lower levels of school-related stress and stress related to other. The result for female students showed no significant differences between stress and physical activity.

Conclusion Male students perform more exhausting physical activity while reporting a lower stress level.
