Den här studien undersöker småbarnsföräldrars uppfattningar om en familjecentral i en västsvensk kommun. En familjecentral är en verksamhet där barnavårdscentral, barnmorskemottagning, öppna förskola samt kurator samverkar för familjers skull. Det är en kvalitativ studie som tagit inspiration av en fenomenografisk ansats. Datainsamlingen har gjorts genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med ett bekvämlighetsurval av föräldrar som besökt familjecentralen. I den kommun där undersökningen har genomförts har det arbetats fram en översiktsplan och det är denna översiktsplan vår studie utgår ifrån. Syftet med studien är att ta reda på vilka uppfattningar som småbarnsföräldrarna har om familjecentralen som verksamhet och hur väl det grundläggande syftet med familjecentralen följs i praktiken. Kommunen planerar att öppna ytterligare en familjecentral och vår studie lyfter fram de delar som föräldrarna identifierar som viktiga samt eventuella brister och studien skulle kunna utgöra ett underlag vid uppstartandet av en ny familjecentral. Detta för att skapa möjligheter för att främja och förbättra verksamheten.

Teoretiskt utgår studien från både ett salutogent perspektiv, som handlar om att se hälsans ursprung och på vilket sätt de faktorer som främjar hälsan skulle kunna identifieras i familjecentralen som verksamhet samt ur ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på lärande. Där synen på människan är att hon lever i ständig förändring och lärande i den kontext som denne befinner sig i. Genom att se familjecentralen som en arena i ett socialt sammanhang appliceras dessa teorier. En genomgång av dokument som handlar om hur familjecentralen är tänkt att vara har bearbetats för att jämföra med föräldrarnas uppfattningar.

Resultatet visar på en verksamhet som upplevs som positiv av de föräldrar som besöker den. Samtliga intervjupersoner berättar att det är en positiv upplevelse att besöka familjecentralen och att dess grundläggande syfte med att skapa en mötesplats, där stöd och råd kan fås, uppnås. De flesta föräldrarna upplever att de blir mycket väl bemötta och att de känner sig trygga med att de får den hjälp de behöver men även att de får ett socialt behov uppfyllt. Många poängterar att de kommer till familjecentralen för barnens skull, för att de ska få träffa andra barn och vänja sig vid att samsas med dem. Många av föräldrarna känner sig stärkta av verksamheten och har haft hjälp av dem vid händelser eller perioder i livet som varit svåra. De flesta vittnar om att det sammantaget är personalen, bemötandet och det sociala samspelet som gör att de fortsätter besöka familjecentralen och den kunskap som de tillhandahålls där. Det som har varit mindre bra är att den lokal som verksamheten befinner sig i är alltför liten, den svarar oftast inte upp till den efterfrågan som finns på verksamheten. En del föräldrar efterlyser även en helhetssyn på familjen då de har upplevt att det inte har varit av samma vikt att föräldrarna själva som egna personer mår bra utan att fokus har legat på att barnet mår bra. En helhetssyn skulle enligt föräldrarna innebära att det är lika viktigt att föräldrarna mår bra för att barnet ska kunna må bra fullt ut.

This study addresses perceptions of small children's parents of a family centre in a western Swedish municipality. A family centre is a place where child welfare centre, midwife reception, open preschool and counsellor work together for families. A qualitative study that is inspired by a phenomenography approach. The data collection has been done through semi-structured interviews with convenience selection of parents who visited the family centre. The purpose of the study is to find out what perceptions the parents have about the family centre as an activity and how well the basic purpose of the family center is followed in practice. In the municipality in which the survey has been conducted, a social overview plan has been developed, and in this study the background is where they plan to open another family centre. The study makes it possible to highlight the parts that the parents identify as important as well as possible shortcomings, which could form a basis for the startup of a new family centre. This in order to create opportunities for promoting and improving the operation.

The theoretical starting point is based on both a salutogenic perspective, which refers to the origin of health and the way in which the factors that promote health could be identified in the family centre as an activity. As well as from a socio-cultural perspective on learning, where the perspective on the human is that she lives in constant change and learning in the context, which she is in. By looking at the family center as an arena in a social context, these theories are applied. A review of documents that deals with how the family center is supposed to be has been reviewed to compare with the perceptions of parents.

The result shows that the parents who visit the family centre perception is positive. It is a positive experience to visit the family center and its basic purpose is to create a meeting place, where support and advice can be obtained. Most parents feel they are very well-treated and feel secure with the help they get but also that they meet a social need. Many point out that they come to the family center for the sake of the children, so that they can meet other children and get used to being with them. Many of the parents feel strengthened by the operation which has helped them in events or periods of life that have been tough. Most parents testify that all of the staff, the treatment and social interaction which is provided there, are the reasons to continue to visit the family centre and the knowledge provided there.

What has been less good is that the local area in which the family centre is located is too small, it usually does not respond to the demand for the family centre. Some parents also call for an overall view of the family as they have experienced that it has not been the same for parents as individuals to feel good without focusing on the child feeling good. According to parents, an overall view would mean that it is equally important for parents to feel good as it is for the child to feel well.
