Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to investigate what motivates individuals working in monotonous occupations, and what they think could be improved so that they experience a higher level of motivation. The study was conducted on a customerservice department in Gothenburg. Six interviews were conducted and the material was analyzed by thematic analysis. The study revealed that all respondents considered it important to feel motivated in their work no matter what role you have in the organization. What the individuals felt motivated them in their work was their personal relationships within the workteam, the possibility for personal development and clear goals to work towards. Affinity was considered strong, which favored cooperation and could be further strengthened through more activities between the workteams. The results showed that all respondents felt that their sense of motivation could be better in their work and have a positive impact on their performance.
