Abstract [en]
Are there differences in the Sweden Democrats formal ideology on the national and local level? This study finds, by using a comparative mixed method approach, that there are differences, most notably in regard to ethno nationalism. Where only 0.9% of ethno nationalism was found on the national level, the local level has 45% of ethno nationalism. By comparing official documents (municipal budgets, principal program and party manifesto) from the national and local level, in regards to three kinds of nationalism (civic, cultural and ethno) the author have been able to discern differences in the two levels. This study has implications for the understanding of the party's ideology. The results raises questions about its top-down structure, and ideological cohesion.
