Mapping and analysis of internal information flow (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The thesis describes a conducted study at a manufacturing company in the plastic industry. The study was supposed to create a flow chart for the information flow from customer order to delivery. The formulated objectives of the study was to create an overall process mapping, identify problems and making suggestions for improvement. The author started the study by studying theory to create a basic understanding of the field. In order to collect information for the study the author conducted interviews with the company´s employees and handed out a questionnaire. The collected theory from the study and gathered data made it possible for the author to create a comprehensive process mapping of the information flow. The data collection also contributed to the identification of problems for study.

By analyzing the process mapping the author identified a control that contributed to increased waste and reduced efficiency in the flow. The collected problems that were identified during the study helped to author analyzed that the problems really were disturbances of the normal flow. These disturbances were due to internal and external variety and flexibility, which contributed to an increased flow of information.

The improvement suggestions that the study has resulted in is that the company should use the process mapping to convey knowledge of the flow and try to eliminate the unnecessary control, mapping the frequency of disturbances and review the communication method of interference. The company is also recommended to create a more detailed value stream analysis of the flow, in order to identify more wastage.
