Abstract [sv]
Skolkuratorer har ett omfattande arbete med hög arbetsbelastning. 7 av 10 skolkuratorer hinner inte med det preventiva arbetet vilket leder till att eleverna inte får rätt stöd och hjälp. Syftet med studien är att belysa hur skolkuratorer arbetar med elever i högstadiet årskurs 7–9 i grundskolan som lider av psykisk ohälsa samt skolkuratorns roll inom det preventiva arbetet mot psykisk ohälsa. Studien baserades på kvalitativ metod och för att fånga respondenternas upplevelser användes semistrukturell intervju. Studiens resultat presenteras i form av fyra teman. De huvudteman som identifierades genom tematisk analys är skolkuratorns arbetsbelastning, skolkuratorns preventiva arbete, skolkuratorns arbetsroll och skolkuratorns samverkan med andra yrkessamma aktörer. Resultatet påvisade att skolkuratorerna använder främst samtalsstöd med eleverna och samverkar med andra aktörer. Skolkuratorerna vidareutbildar även lärarna på skolan med syfte att förebygga psykisk ohälsa. Resultatet påvisar vidare att skolkuratorerna upplever en tidsbrist som agerar som ett hinder för skolkuratorernas preventiva arbete.
Abstract [en]
School counselors have extensive work with a high workload. 7 out of 10 school counselors don’t have time to do the preventive work, which leads to the students not getting the right support and help. The purpose of the study is to shed light on how school counselors work with students in upper secondary school grades 7–9 in elementary school who suffer from mental illness and the school counselor's role in the preventive work against mental illness. The study is based on a qualitative method and to capture the respondents' experiences, a semi-structured experience interview was used. The study's results are presented in the form of four themes. The principals identified through thematic analysis are the school counselor's workload, the school counselor's preventive work, the school counselor's work role and the school counselor's collaboration with other professional actors. The results showed that the school counselors mainly use conversational support with students and collaborate with other actors. The school counselors also further train the teachers at the school with the aim of preventing mental illness. The result further shows that the school counselors experience a lack of time which acts as an obstacle to the school counselors' preventive work.
