Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This examination work is about a comparison between the RISC-architecture, in this case ARM, and x86_64. The question of if RISC is the future of data centers and other server environments is a key point in this report. Using a multitude of tests such as processor performance (ops/s), memory throughput (MiB/s), temperature (°C), and power usage (Watt) several method scenarios are performed. In the report it is shown that RISC is much more effective than x86_64 and only has a marginally smaller performance difference. In conclusion, the report shows that RISC is a more efficient choice overall compared to x86_64.
