Abstract [en]
This is a thesis about how speed, cost and security differs between Leased Fiber, MPLS and VPN technologies. To connect different networks across a geographical site have become common in todays society. This is why when enterprises have multiple branches across a state or a country, they would definitely be wanting to connect all these branches together to facilitate data transfer and access between them in order to accelerate the speed of business transactions.
Nowadays almost all of the businesses have got one or more branch offices which are connected somehow to share services or resources. To fulfil this task there are some different technologies that can be used. Through this study it will be discussed what each technology is capable of.
This study specially focuses on speed, cost and also how secure these different solutions are. Information about these different techniques have been gathered through different document studies, articles, research studies, service providers and internet to obtain a more accurate result.
The result of this study shows that Leased Fiber are the most secure, reliable and expensive at the same time as compared to cloud services such MPLS and VPN. However, the cloud services are implemented by most of the enterprises. The main reason is that this solution is cheaper and encryption is used to provide security and integrity. The only drawback is that the link is shared by different nodes.
