Abstract [en]

This thesis aims to describe the relationship between hegemonic masculinity and construction of politics using two specific politicians. By choosing the politicians Vladimir Putin and Benito Mussolini this thesis intends, through a social constructivist theory, conduct a descriptive and comparative study. A generalization to a broader population would not be in order because of this thesis targeting two politicians and their specific construction of politics in their autobiographies. The use of exact traits found within hegemonic masculinity will enable us to extract parts of the autobiographies and describe exactly how hegemonic masculinity has been used in the autobiographies. These traits will enable us to compare the two autobiographies in order to see if time has changed the relationship between hegemonic masculinity and construction of politics. This will provide an analysis were it will be shown that both politicians portray themselves in the autobiographies as strong masculine leaders and that time has created a change in the construction of politics as well as the concept of hegemonic masculinity.
