This thesis is investigating the representation of Arabs in novels written by Swedish authors. By using textual analysis it will examine three books selected by its popularity among its Swedish readers. The books Gömda, by Liza Marklund, Men inte om det gäller din dotter, by Jan Guillou, and Aldrig fucka upp, by Jens Lapidus were selected as cases of examination for a more recent contribution to the larger field Orientalism in literature. The field has been previously researched by international as well as Swedish scholars and an updated contribution is therefore relevant. The thesis shows that there are stereotypes being used when describing not only Arabs, but also when portraying the society in which Arabs lives. It shows that there are new stereotypes being created regarding the representation of Arabs as well as old stereotypes reoccurring in the books
