Cyberbullying in social media in Iran: The rate of perpetration and victimization among adults

Abstract [en]

The present study used quantitative data to address two gaps in cyberbullying research. First, to examine the Prevalence rate of cyberbullying on social media in Iran. Second, despite investigating the prevalence rate from a main effects perspective, the present study extended research by examining to what extent adults are engaging with cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a controversial debate in Iran nowadays. A total of 90 adults participated from age 18 to 65+ in this study. The study first addresses the initial definitions of cyberbullying and examine the results of previous researches. After researching through a questionnaire among Iranian adults, we achieved interesting results. Women are more likely to experience cyberbullying than men in Iran. Result also showed the highest rate of cyberbullying are in WhatsApp and Telegram in comparison with other social media platforms.
