Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

For many years, the personality of individuals has been studied and it has been shown that our personality traits affect how we act, handle and experience situations in our lives. This means that individuals' experience of Job Satisfaction can be associated with one's personality traits. With the help of this information, employers can gain knowledge about employees' perceived Job Satisfaction and with the help of this, they can ensure that employees feel comfortable at their workplace and feel good. The purpose of this thesis is to study the relationship between personality and Job Satisfaction among HR employees. To carry out the study, a quantitative method has been used. The HR departments of several different organizations have been contacted to collect data in the form of a questionnaire that contains questions regarding background, personality, job satisfaction, informal learning and health status. Instruments that measure personality (HEXACO-60) and Job Satisfaction (the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire) have been used. The collected data has then been compiled and analyzed in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 28 (SPSS).Personality traits Extroversion and Conscientiousness were found to be significant and correlate positively with Job Satisfaction. The personality trait Emotionality turned out to be significant and correlate negatively with Job Satisfaction. When the significant personality traits were checked in the regression analysis together with the study's control variables (Informal learning and Health status) in relation to Job Satisfaction, Extroversion lost its significance. Conscientiousness and Emotionality continued to be significant and correlated with Job Satisfaction. The results show that personality may be related to the individual's degree of Job Satisfaction among HR employees.
