Abstract [sv]
Studiens syfte är att få fördjupad kunskap om hur hotellbranschen utövar transformativt ledarskap under organisationsförändringar med fokus på Covid-19 pandemin som har drabbat besöksnäringen kraftigt. För att uppfylla syftet och besvara forskningsfrågan användes kvalitativ metod under studien som även baseras på sex utförda intervjuer med ledare på ett stort hotell i Västsverige. Vidare visar studien att den valda organisationen använder sig av transformativt ledarskap under den pågående Covid-19 pandemin. Framförallt visas det genom att ledarna arbetar med att motivera och uppmuntra sina medarbetare. Ledarna angagerar medarbetarna i beslutsproceessen och låter medarbetarna vara kreativa och komma med egna förslag. Ledarna har även betonat att det har varit svårigheter med att arbeta med medarbetarna på individuell nivå då ledarna under Covid-19 pandemin har fått att prioritera organisationen som helhet. Samtidigt som samtliga respondenter betonar att medarbetarnas välmående också varit en avgörande faktor under den pågående Covid-19 pandemin.
Abstract [en]
The purpose of the study is to gain in-depth knowledge of how the hotel industry exercises transformative leadership during organizational changes with a focus on the Covid-19 pandemic, which has hit the tourism industry hard. To fulfill the purpose and answer the research question, a qualitative method was used during the study, which is also based on six interviews with leaders from a hotel. Furthermore, the study shows that the chosen organization uses transformative leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic. Above all, it is shown by the leaders working to motivate and encourage their employees. The leaders involve the employees in the decision-making process and let the employees be creative and come up with their own suggestions. The leaders have also emphasized that there have been difficulties in working with the employees on an individual level as the leaders during the Covid-19 pandemic have had to prioritize the organization as a whole. At the same time, all respondents emphasize that employee well-being was also a decisive factor during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
